Cooler Master MasterBox NR600 review

It’s time to check out the new Cooler Master Masterbox NR600 mid-tower PC chassis. It’s been six months since we reviewed the Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M. This time it’s something more affordable. The product was announced officially on March 19:

“The NR series streamlines form and function to provide a minimalistic design and bold performance. MasterBox NR600 supports up to standard ATX motherboards. Marked only by the iconic solid stripe from the original N Series, the new NR Series applies modern technology to a timeless design by incorporating both filtration and airflow in the fine mesh front panel. Keeping the NR Series minimal on the outside meant paying a keen attention to structural details. Two examples, in particular, are the mesh used in the front panel and the structure of the two-part side panel,” Said Matteo Stracciari General Manager of Cases at Cooler Master. “A single-layer, fine mesh makes up the entire front panel, achieving efficient airflow while also acting as a dust filter while the tempered glass side panel sits completely flush against the chassis and the PSU shroud to form a two-part showcase of tempered glass and steel. Thermal performance is at the core of the NR Series, with the combination of two pre-installed fans for intake and exhaust and the fine mesh front panel. Generous support for radiator mounting and unrestricted ventilation on the top and front panel ensure that even the most demanding components are efficiently cooled while the two USB 3.1 gen 1 ports at the top of the case provide ample connectivity for everyday use. The NR Series challenges the stereotype of minimal cases by introducing bold performance to a pure and simple design. The MasterBox NR600 will be available for MSRP of $69.99.” There are two variants of the chassis, one with an ODD bay (as in the reviewed sample), and another one without it.

Only a black color version is available. The Cooler Master Masterbox NR600 is a medium-sized chassis. It measures 478 (L) x 209 (W) x 473 (H) mm (which gives 47.25 l in total), and supports up to ATX-size motherboards. It can house a maximum of four 3.5” drives and five 2.5” ones. The following ports are available on the front panel:

  • USB 3.0 (2 x),
  • 3.5 mm HD audio jack (common for mic and headphones)
  • Power and Reset switches

There is 410mm of space for graphics cards (which is enough for all models currently available on the market), 166mm for air coolers (most should be able to fit in), and 180mm for the PSU (so everything up to, let’s say, 1000W will be compatible). The Cooler Master Masterbox NR600 has many cooling options, with support for up to 360mm radiators on the front (when the ODD is removed), 240mm on the top, and a 120mm radiator in the back. Dust filters have been installed on the top, and in the bottom.

The MSRP is $69.99, and the case is covered by a two-year warranty. Let’s have a closer look at the Masterbox NR600. Please proceed to the next page.
